A Chat with Marty Layne

Marty Layne is a homeschooling icon in BC. Her book, Learning at Home: A Mother’s Guide to Homeschooling, has reassured and guided thousands of home learning families in BC and across North America.

In this interview, Marty and Rebecca chat about Marty’s own experiences of homeschooling with her children, what homeschooling was like in the 1980’s in BC, and a bit about Marty’s approach to learning at home with her children.

This interview was a delight to conduct and we hope you find a bit of time to watch it. As Rebecca says, Marty is like a “warm hug”.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

Board members Melanie Wilkins-Ho and Rebecca McClure present their talk on the Rights and Responsibilities of Registered Homeschooling.

We go through some of the BC legislation that gives us the option to educate our kids at home on our own terms, and we discuss the responsibilities of the different parties involved. We also provide a brief comparison between registration and DL enrolment.
